As the top ranking school in Ghana and actually the foremost institution in West Africa, the University of Ghana has a very solid reputation and that has greatly increased competition into getting into it’s programs. This is due to the fine education and notable alumni it produces. For the 2020/2021 academic year, the University of Ghana has released the admission requirements for study of post graduate Law (LL.B) for International Students and Ghanaian Abroad Undergraduate Applicants.

Qualification

A second Class (Lower Division) Degree in any discipline from a recognized University tends to be the minimum requirement for admission.

Online Application

All applicantsare required to pay a non-refundable application processing fee of US$110.00. It can be paid directly or or wire transferred into the University of Ghana’s ECOBANK Account.

The evidence of payment together with applicants’ certification should be scanned and attached to the application form before submission online. Tha completed application forms should be submitted online.

Documents to be submitted DIRECTLY to the Law School before the deadline.

  • One copy of ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE authenticated by the institution awarding degree.
  • One copy of ORIGINAL ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT.
  • Three Academic Referee reports.
  • Provide in your own handwriting, a candid evaluation of yourself as a person, discussing to you the personal characteristics you feel are your strengths and weaknesses in order of importance. This written self evaluation must be signed by you with your usual signature.
  • Two recent passport sized (45mm×35mm) colour photographs of yourself. Each should bear your full name and signature as appears on all supporting documents. The passport photos be taken against a light coloured background, be clear and of good quality, not framed or backed. They should be printed on normal photographic paper and should show your full face without sunglasses, hat or other head covering unless it’s for cultural or religious reasons (but the face must not be covered).
  • Application Confirmation Letter.

Four copies of the Application Package should be submitted to the Law School before the deadline.

Deadline

Deadline has been set at 30th June 2020 at 17:00GMT or 5:00pm. All supporting documents and materials sent via mail ought to reach the Law School by the deadline. Be sure that your name appears as it does on all your supporting documents. All documents have to be in English and those not in English should be accompanied by accredited translations in English and approved by the National Accreditation Board of Ghana.

Entrance examination

Applicants that are short-listed will be required to take an entrance examination which will attract a non-refundable examination fee of 180.00 Ghana Cedis for both Ghanaian and International Applicants. The date for the exams will be announced in die course. However, applicants who.pass the entrance examination will go through an admission interview process.
